Thailand Halal Assembly 2015 and Halal Exhibition held in Bangkok HALALEVENTS
(Bangkok-NewsHalal, Rabi`I 18, 1437, December 29, 2015) The Halal Science Centre of Chulalongkorn University, the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT) and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand jointly hosted an International Halal Conference and exhibition, "Thailand Halal Assembly", at the Bangkok Convention Centre, Centara Grand at CentralWorld.
The three-day event, which kicked off on Friday December 25, attracted around 10,000 visitors and Halal experts from various parts of the world such as Malaysia, Pakistan, Kuwait and UK. Event objective was to promote innovation and technologies of halal affairs in Thailand to the global community.
According to the organizers, the Thailand Halal Assembly features more than 200 booths of consumer products of Thai and international halal enterprises.
There was a marketing workshop on the topic "Importance of Halal Branding for Export Enhancement", a seminar on "Islamic Studies for Halal Science Integration", and Muslim cultural events.
At the opening ceremony, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said the government had supported the establishment of the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand under CICOT and the Halal Science Centre, as both organisations could support academic affairs in terms of science and administration. This year, the government allocated a budget to supporting the development of a system to comply with religion-certified halal science.
The government expected the Thailand Halal Assembly, regarded as Asia's biggest halal event, to show the potential for Thailand to become the world's largest exporter of Halal Food.
According to Thai media report, Thailand annually exports Halal products to more than 57 countries with a total value of US$5 billion, making it the world's fifth-largest Halal Food exporter. Aiming to improve that ranking, the "Diamond Halal" symbol of quality is being pushed, as this country's halal products are already recognised globally by their diamond logo.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, Founding Director of the Halal Science Center, “The Thailand Halal Assembly quoted by the local media as saying that the event is designed to showcase Thailand’s role in the rapidly-growing market for Halal products. It will be an opportunity for Thai-Muslims to interact and network with the Muslim community around the world, establish more business contacts and upgrade their professional skills and knowledge.
Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, “The Thailand Halal Assembly will play a major role in facilitating the success of new strategy to enhance the kingdom’s image as a Muslim-friendly destination for leisure, business and MICE events. Thailand welcomes thousands of Muslim tourists from all over the world every year. These numbers will grow further after the AEC when we can expect to get more visitors from our neighbouring ASEAN countries, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. Hence, it is very important for Thailand to have the necessary products and services catering to the Muslim market.”
